Andrea Ixchiu
Maya K’iche, originally from Totonicapán, Guatemala. For more than fifteen years she has been working in community communication processes and designing narrative strategies and technologies for the care of indigenous territories.
She is a defender of the territory, cultural manager, producer and audiovisual producer. She has held various community positions and at age 23, she was the first woman to be appointed by her community to chair the Natural Resources Board of the 48 Cantons of Totonicapán. Co-founder of Solidarity Festivals, Indigenous Futures, Cultural Hacking, among other collective spaces. Co-coordinator of the Network of Independent Filmmakers of Guatemala, Red Tz’ikin, 2012 -2018. Director of the International Film and Communication Festival of Indigenous Peoples FICMAYAB’ of CLACPI (2018). Co-star of the documentary “500 years, life in resistance” by Skylight Pictures (2017). She was a laureate of the Women’s Nobel Peace Initiative, received the European Parliament’s Sakharov Prize Fellowship and was a Bertha Fellow (2020-2021). Among his most recent works are the short films: Cho Uk’ayib’al (2019), Cure of the Earth, documentary series (2021). He has published several texts and articles in local media in Guatemala and internationally.
Maya K’iche, originaria de Totonicapán, Guatemala. Desde hace más de quince años trabaja en procesos de comunicación comunitaria y diseño de estrategias narrativas y tecnologías para el cuidado de territorios indígenas. Es defensora del territorio, gestora cultural, productora y realizadora audiovisual. Ha cumplido diversos cargos comunitarios y a los 23 años, fue la primera mujer en ser nombrada por su comunidad para presidir la Junta de Recursos Naturales de los 48 Cantones de Totonicapán. Cofundadora de Festivales Solidarios, Futuros Indígenas, Hackeo Cultural, entre otros espacios colectivos. Co-coordinadora de la Red de Realizadores Independientes de Guatemala, Red Tz’ikin, 2012 -2018. Directora de Festival Internacional de Cine y Comunicación de los Pueblos Indígenas FICMAYAB’ de CLACPI (2018). Co-protagonista del documental “500 años, vida en resistencia” de Skylight Pictures (2017). Fue laureada por la Iniciativa de las Mujeres Nobeles de la Paz, recibió la beca del Premio Sakharov del Parlamento Europeo y fue Bertha Fellow (2020-2021). Entre sus trabajos más recientes se encuentran los cortometrajes: Cho Uk’ayib’al (2019), Cura de la Tierra, serie documental (2021). Ha publicado diversos textos y artículos en medios locales en Guatemala e internacionales.

Vanesa Ordóñez
Documentary filmmaker and audiovisual producer, photo journalist and communicator for solidarity festivals. Born in 1997 Guatemala City, graduated from the Casa Comal Film and Television School, starting experience in 2017, filming personal projects, documentaries, video clips, short films and corporate videos, achieving four awards in different festivals in the last three years. Studying documentary diplomas in Mexico, doing artivism from the playful art in processes with Caja Lúdica practicing stilts and body work.
Documentalista y productora audiovisual, foto periodista y comunicadora para festivales solidarios. Nacida en el año 1997 Ciudad de Guatemala, egresada de la Escuela de Cine y Televisión Casa Comal, iniciando experiencia en el año 2017, filmando proyectos personales, documentales, video clips, cortometrajes y videos corporativos, logrando cuatro premios en diferentes festivales en los últimos tres años. Estudiando diplomados de documental en México, haciendo artivismo desde el arte lúdico en procesos con Caja Lúdica practicando zancos y trabajo corporal.

Lucia Ixchiu
K´iche woman, community feminist, architect, designer, human rights activist, artist, culture manager and community journalist. He was born in Totonicapán, Guatemala, in 1990. He became an activist and journalist for the massacre of October 4, 2012 at the Alaska summit against the indigenous people of Totonicapán by the Guatemalan army and government. Active in the student movement from 2012 to 2017, representative and student leader 2014-2016 of the architecture faculty, first indigenous woman to occupy this student representation in her faculty, co-founder of Solidarity Festivals, art and communication space for the defense of the territory, prison politics and historical memory, co-founder of the intersectional feminist space Mujeres en Movimienta, intercultural news correspondent Maya K’at, Latin American radio correspondent breaks the fence. Opinion columnist in national and Latin American media. Co-founder of Conectadas, LATAM, and part of the organizing team of the meeting of diverse women ELLA.
Mujer K´iche, feminista comunitaria, arquitecta, diseñadora, activista de derechos humanos, artista, gestora cultura y periodista comunitaria. Nació en Totonicapán, Guatemala, en 1990. Se hizo activista y periodista por la masacre del 4 de octubre del 2012 en la cumbre de Alaska contra el pueblo indígena de Totonicapán por parte del ejército y el gobierno de Guatemala. Activa en el movimiento estudiantil del 2012 al 2017, representante y líder estudiantil 2014-2016 de la facultad arquitectura, primera mujer indígena en ocupar esta representación estudiantil en su facultad, cofundadora de Festivales Solidarios espacio de arte y comunicación para la defensa del territorio, prisión política y memoria histórica, cofundadora del espacio feminista diverso Mujeres en Movimienta, corresponsal noticiero intercultural Maya K’at, corresponsal Radialista de Latinoamérica rompe el cerco. Columnista de opinión en medios nacionales y latinoamericanos. Cofundadora de Conectadas, LATAM, y parte del equipo organizador de ELLA.
