Maine DEP LakeSmart Information
The Maine DEP Bureau of Land & Water Quality has compiled information on the LakeSmart Program in order to educate and assist homeowners in improving the water quality of the watershed. LakeSmart aims to keep the lakes clean by “stabilizing eroding areas, reducing the use of chemicals, diverting rainwater into vegetative areas and maintaining or planting trees, shrubs and ground cover along the shoreland.” The following links provide the essential information about the program:
