Today’s students must learn to grapple with environmental challenges from a wide range or perspectives, exploring their historical, ethical and philosophical dimensions in addition to their scientific and policy aspects, and learn how to communicate their findings through the languages of the arts, literature and philosophy.
How can students implement their liberal arts and disciplinary training in face of the multifaceted, interdisciplinary, and wicked environmental and social problems complexly structuring the contemporary world?
While there is not yet a major in Environmental Humanities at Colby, there is an English with Literature and the Environment Concentration, as well as many other opportunities to engage with this new field. View the environmental humanities course listings on this website, submit your environmentally themed art and writing to FAUNA Environmental Humanities Literary and Art Magazine, and consider joining the Student Advisory Board.
