Community

Events | Mellon Distinguished Fellow in Environmental Humanities

The public will have opportunities to learn and engage in these initiatives through the innovative modes of inquiry, presentation and civic engagement concerning the environment developed by faculty affiliated with the environmental humanities program.

Environmental humanities is not a rarified academic concern, but can characterize any human engagement with the nonhuman natural world. Social and institutional change will be possible not only thanks to the global consciousness-raising efforts of academics and activists, but will emerge from local, bottom-up, community endeavors to affect the workings of the dominant systems immediately surrounding them through resistance, struggle, creativity, and imagination.
