October 28, 1978<\/p>\n

Dear Don \u2013<\/p>\n

I am sorry to have not written to you since my
\nreturn \u2013 and that I\u2019ve written so little to Jane. I have had
\na crushing work load during the past two months. I\u2019m not
\nout from under it yet.<\/p>\n

But I must tell you about your book. It is just
\nwonderful! Diane bought me a copy at the Dartmouth bookstore
\nlast week. My particular favorites are \u201cKicking the Leaves\u201d,
\n\u201cFlies\u201d, \u201cThe Black-Faced Sheep\u201d, \u201cThe Ox Cart Man\u201d
\n& \u201cNames of Horses\u201d. We have both read the book over
\nand over, savoring it. It is an awfully good thing.<\/p>\n

We have also enjoyed Remembering Poets<\/span>. The Raynos
\nlent me their copy, and I read it straight through,
\nstopping only once when Diane asked me to do some errands
\nand began reading it herself. We were both sorry when
\nwe had no more book to read.<\/p>\n

My own book \u2013 the volume of poems \u2013 1) almost ready.
\nI figure I have only 2-3 poems left to do. I
\nplan on a count of 24 or so. If you are still
\ninterested in seeing it, I\u2019d like very much to show it
\nto you sometime up ahead.<\/p>\n

In any case, would like to see you both sometime soon \u2013
\nwhen the \u201cwild\u201d schedule to which Jane refers quiets down.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, thanks for so much truly
\npleasurable reading.<\/p>\n
