This letter describes our agreement concerning The Atlantic\u2019s acceptance
\nof your work entitled The Last Time Shorty Towers Fetched The Cows.
\n(\u201cthe work\u201d).<\/p>\n

1. First Publication Rights<\/span>. We understand that this is an original
\nwork not previously published in the English language either in the United
\nStates or Canada and that you have full rights to offer us this contribution.
\nYou grant The Atlantic exclusive first publication rights in English in
\nthose countries. This includes the right to reproduce and distribute the
\nwork at any time as part of the issue or issues of The Atlantic magazine in
\nwhich the work first appears. It also includes subsequent microfilm or
\nmicrofiche sales.<\/p>\n

2. Copyright<\/span>. Under United States copyright law, you own copyright
\nin the work, subject to the rights you have granted to The Atlantic. The
\nAtlantic will include a copyright notice in its name on the issue or issues
\nof the magazine in which your work appears. However, if you, in addition,
\nwould like to establish a public record of the copyright claim in your
\nname, you may file an application with the Copyright Office, Library of
\nCongress, Washington, D.C. 20559.<\/p>\n

3. Reprints<\/span>. The Atlantic will direct all requests for reprint
\nrights to you or to any other person you may designate. Although you are
\nnot obligated to do so, The Atlantic would be grateful if the copyright
\nnotice included in any reprint of your article read \u201c \u00a9 (year) (your name),
\nas first published in The Atlantic.\u201d If you or the person you designate
\ncannot be located, The Atlantic will grant permission for a reasonable
\nfee and will remit half the fee to you or the person you designate
\nif subsequently located.<\/p>\n

4. Warranty<\/span>. You warrant that publication of the work will not
\nsubject The Atlantic to liability for copyright infringement.<\/p>\n
