I dictate this on Sunday, October<br \/>\n2nd, but will not be able to mail it for a week, because I leave<br \/>\nearly tomorrow morning and will be gone all week. Therefore the<br \/>\npoems will not go out until next week \u2013 but that is just as well.<br \/>\nThe New Yorker is absolutely overwhelmed in the month of September&#8230;<br \/>\nprobably better to delay until mid-October. I generally do<br \/>\nmyself.<\/p>\n<p>I should say that I intend to send some poems to<br \/>\nCostanzo, when I get a chance. It is not a bad magazine, of<br \/>\nthe second rank&#8230;and he has been such a good friend to poetry \u2013<br \/>\nnot to mention us.<\/p>\n<p>Jane can ride comfortably as far as the Hideaway. Or<br \/>\nher discomfort is not debilitating&#8230; But Boston \u2013 and a sub-<br \/>\nsequent airplane ride \u2013 is out, for the moment.<\/p>\n<p>I did not recognize that \u201cAfter the Ice\u201d, still submitted<br \/>\nto a magazine, was in the book coming out so soon. That is,<br \/>\nI did not go through the Table of Contents, after the book was<br \/>\naccepted, to see if anything was out. You can count on me not to,<br \/>\nI suppose. You can also count on my not to remember things!<br \/>\nI believe it is because of the multiplicity of details in my<br \/>\nlife \u2013 three to four thousand letters a year \u2013 rather than<br \/>\nAlzheimer\u2019s&#8230; I am much worse on the telephone. I always<br \/>\ntalk with people \u2013 about a reading, about a recommendation or<br \/>\nsomething \u2013 and end by saying: please write me a letter and tell<br \/>\nme what I just said. It is always wise to remind me of things, I<br \/>\nam sorry to say. I do forget a lot.<\/p>\n<p>No sweat.
