I will put it far back<br \/>\nin the drawer with \u201cThe Wish\u201d (the one about Bernice<br \/>\nManchester). Both need much work, I see, but I don\u2019t see<br \/>\nyet how to redo them. On to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">other<\/span> poems!<\/p>\n<p>I have not heard from Costanzo, though I did send<br \/>\nhim the manuscript and a letter (I had sent him still<br \/>\nanother copy of the manuscript and letters three months<br \/>\nearlier.) Since the judging must have been done some<br \/>\ntime ago, I take it that Costanzo has singly forgotten<br \/>\nto contact me and say, \u201cSorry, pal,\u201d or words to that<br \/>\neffect. Writing this, I\u2019ve decided to write <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Press<\/span><br \/>\nand see what happened to the manuscript.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll let you know what I learn. I hope your \u201craids\u201d<br \/>\n(Mark Twain\u2019s word for his own readings and lectures)<br \/>\nare bringing you booty and satisfaction. Please congratulate<br \/>\nJane on her <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Yorker<\/span> poem (read about it in the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\nArgus<\/span>).
