I am home for four whole<br \/>\ndays now. Amazing. Then I am gone for all but thirty-six<br \/>\nhours of the next two weeks. I don\u2019t like that.<\/p>\n<p>I just read at the college of Bruce Guernsey who was<br \/>\nselected last summer as one of the two manuscripts taken by<br \/>\nPitt \u2013 out of more than 1400 submitted. When the figures are<br \/>\nlike that, the lottery-likeness is inevitable. But then, so<br \/>\nwas the NEA! The good lightning bolts drop out of the blue<br \/>\njust like the bad ones.<\/p>\n<p>Old Costanzo is in funding trouble for his press, as<br \/>\nhe told me not in relationship to your manuscript, but just<br \/>\nin general.<\/p>\n<p>Glad you are going to try Solotaroff.<\/p>\n<p>I had forgotten Lisel\u2019s title. I do like a lot of her<br \/>\nwork. And I do like Pinsky. I am about to see him again, and<br \/>\nI miss him, now that he has gone out to the west coast. I\u2019m not<br \/>\nsure you are going to like <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">An Explanation<\/span> very much. It is very<br \/>\ndiscursive indeed. The opening and closing lyrics are quite<br \/>\nbeautiful. He can do it when he wants to.<\/p>\n<p>I will get you that To Keep Moving if you keep reminding<br \/>\nme! It seems silly to go to all the postage when we are nearby.<br \/>\nI would like to think that I will stop by at Colby-Sawyer and<br \/>\nleave it for you\u2026if you are over our way, why don\u2019t you try<br \/>\ndriving in the yard.<\/p>\n<p>I am reading a lot of these long and ambitious things on<br \/>\nthe road, and some of them are sounding pretty good to me, and<br \/>\nto my listeners.
