Nor does this revision rid me of<br \/>\napprehensions \u2013 though I do think the title (my <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">original<\/span> one)<br \/>\nis better, along with the description of the<br \/>\nsecond baseman, and the fielders with their gloves.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is anyway, with apologies<br \/>\nfor the confusion I\u2019m causing.<\/p>\n<p>Love,<\/p>\n<p>Wes<\/p>\n<p>P.S. (August 31) \u2013 Diane told me<br \/>\nyesterday of your congratulations and of<br \/>\nthe significance of \u201cplacement\u201d in<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Poetry<\/span>. Both things make me very happy.<br \/>\nAnd they remind me that I owe<br \/>\nJoey $6.00_, which I send with profoundest<br \/>\ngratitude to both of you.<\/p>\n<p>THE SLOW CHILDREN PLAY BASEBALL<\/p>\n<p>The girl with mild eyes stands<br \/>\nwith both feet on first base,<br \/>\nand the shortstop smiles at nothing<br \/>\nhe can remember exactly.<br \/>\nNow the large-faced boy on second<br \/>\nraises his hands, making the precise shape<br \/>\nof a ball. The ball<br \/>\nis already over the outfield.<br \/>\nSome are watching it fall,<br \/>\nan outfielder, the astonished batter<br \/>\nbeginning to run. Slowly they see<br \/>\nit is time to wave their arms<br \/>\nand let their voices go.
