Sutton, NH 03260<\/p>\n<p>Dear Wes,<\/p>\n<p>Could you send me a copy of \u201cThe Thin Man\u201d? It has<br \/>\nnot returned, and it is possible that it will not.<\/p>\n<p>And for that matter, why don\u2019t we go back to working<br \/>\nwith Joey again. I am over my heat, and it is obvious<br \/>\nthat this Bad Accident will never come near either one of<br \/>\nus again. Let us just start in. But when you send me<br \/>\nback the poems \u2013 for sending out \u2013 would you please tell<br \/>\nme again where they have been? That is, would you repeat<br \/>\nmy information to you? I buried all the old records in<br \/>\nmy correspondence box, which is now anonymous among rows<br \/>\nof boxes up in the Dark Hole upstairs. So I need to know<br \/>\nwhere they have been, and I would not necessarily remember.<\/p>\n<p>I hope that by the time the two poems come out in<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Poetry<\/span> you will really be able to feel good about them.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the Caldecott was good news. So many great ideas,<br \/>\nwhen you are free-lance writing, fall apart and bring in no<br \/>\nmortgage-helpers. But then something like this happens, and<br \/>\nit is a little annuity for several years.
