Of course<br \/>\nyou may have \u201cThe Thin Man\u201d for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Harvard Magazine.<\/span><br \/>\nThat you would request the poem lifts me somewhat<br \/>\nfrom the gloom of the past days. I feel extraordinarily<br \/>\nblessed to have your faith and good will.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, I am grateful for your<br \/>\ncontinuous mailings and remailings of my poems,<br \/>\nand for your suggestions about my own<br \/>\nfuture mailings. I thank you especially for placing the<br \/>\ntwo poems in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Poetry.<\/span> Ever since I began writing<br \/>\npoetry ten years ago, I have wanted to appear<br \/>\nin that magazine. Having poems accepted by<br \/>\nJohn Nims is especially meaningful to me,<br \/>\nsince he once encouraged me in my writing<br \/>\nat Bread Loaf. (I took a class called \u201cThe<br \/>\nCraft of Poetry\u201d with Nims when I was<br \/>\ngetting my M.A.) You may be absolutely sure<br \/>\nthat the poems Nims accepted have not been<br \/>\npublished in, or sent to, any other magazine<br \/>\nor newspaper whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, I sent a note to Nims, thanking<br \/>\nhim for taking the poems and reminding him of<\/p>\n<p>2\/<\/p>\n<p>our association at Bread Loaf. Even as I wrote,<br \/>\nI was unable to glory much in the acceptance,<br \/>\nit was so intermixed with the awful problems<br \/>\nI had created for us both. After reading your<br \/>\nletter, I am beginning to feel better about it.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks once again for the kindness you<br \/>\nHave shown.<\/p>\n<p>Wes<\/p>\n<p>P.S. I have just read in The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Argus<\/span> of<br \/>\nyour Caldecott Medal.
