The Fellowship is for $10,000<br \/>\nand should free up a bit of time for writing and<br \/>\ntravel.<\/p>\n<p>It is an award that is given (as you may know)<br \/>\nfor \u201cquality of writing.\u201d The judges, many of whom<br \/>\nare poets, review I guess hundreds of submissions<br \/>\nin poetry &#8211; each submission is 15 pages in length.<br \/>\nI sent them no golden oldies &#8211; all the poems<br \/>\nwere quite recent &#8211; and this makes me feel<br \/>\neven better about getting the award\u2026makes me<br \/>\nfeel, that is, that newer stuff is as reliable<br \/>\nas the better examples of the old.<\/p>\n<p>I am writing this letter somewhere in outer<br \/>\nspace.
