\nWe<\/span> are having today a
\nhot sultry day. Hardly a breath of
\nair seems stirring. How uncomfortable
\nit is! General Court Martial sitting
\nagain of which Col. Jackson is the
\nPresident.
\nMany<\/span> foretold last week an
\nengagement for today. But they must
\nbe greatly mistaken. Everything is quiet
\nas a lamb.
\nJimmie<\/span> came over last evening
\nto see me and we had a grand talk
\nabout home, the burning of central
\nblock and the supreme importance of
\nfather\u2019s bass viol. We have already had
\ntwo grand laughs over that affair.<\/p>\n

If<\/span> ever I shall remember
\ncourt martials or rather Courte [?]
\nmartial I shall think of the
\ncase of Capt. Gibson of the N.Y. 16th.
\nThat is certainly the strongest
\ncase I know of on record. He is being
\ntried today.
\nWithin<\/span> the past few minutes
\nstrange rumors have been afloat about
\nour head quarters concerning the
\nenemy\u2019s evacuation of this position +c.
\nJust now, too, there is heavy firing on
\nour left. It must be in front of
\nHooker.
\nHave<\/span> been writing letters most
\nof the time today.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n
