Could see<br \/>\nonly bright camp lights beyond. The music<br \/>\nwas suggestive and to my soul inspiring.<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">&#8220;Praise<\/span> God from whom all blessings flow<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">Praise<\/span> him all creatures here below<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">Praise<\/span> him above ye heavenly hosts<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">Praise<\/span> Father Son and Holy Ghost.\u201d<br \/>\nIt was a prayer meeting just breaking<br \/>\nup.<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">_________,,_________<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 10px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">When<\/span> we crossed long bridge it was<br \/>\nnearly eight o\u2019k. p.m. Our line of march<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 10px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>Page 221:<br \/>\n1862<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 10px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>was straight up through the city by<br \/>\nWillard\u2019s Hotel and Gen. McClellan\u2019s residence.<br \/>\nIt was one of the most exciting events<br \/>\nof the season to us. Over a year had<br \/>\npassed since the troops entered the city<br \/>\nand now after experiencing the trials<br \/>\nof a severe campaign they had returned<br \/>\nonce more to tread its streets.<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">Column<\/span> was formed and once<br \/>\nagain I beheld that splendid movement<br \/>\n+ those well dressed lines which reminded<br \/>\nme of the time when reviews and<br \/>\nparades were in vogue. The people<br \/>\nin crowds lined the sidewalks and<br \/>\ngenerously cheered as our brave boys<br \/>\nbearing their riddled colors moved<br \/>\nby.<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">As<\/span> each regiment passed the<br \/>\nresidence of the Commander in chief<br \/>\nhuzzas were given for McClellan.<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 58px;\">________,,________<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 10px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>Page 222:<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 58px;\">September<\/span> <span style=\"margin-left: 90px;\">1862<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 65px;\">6<\/span> Contd.<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">I<\/span> put the division into camp and<br \/>\nthen laid down to sleep with Wilson.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 10px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"margin-left: 58px;\">7<\/span> <span style=\"margin-left: 90px;\">Sunday<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">A<\/span> wretched sabbath every way to<br \/>\nme. Where am I? My poor sick<br \/>\nstarving soul!<br \/>\n<span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">Ordered<\/span> to move about 4 ok p.m.<br \/>\nReached Rabbit\u2019s tavern in the course of<br \/>\nthe evening and encamped for the night.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 10px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"margin-left: 58px;\">8<\/span>,,<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 10px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"margin-left: 28px;\">Moved<\/span> on to Rockville starting<br \/>\nstarting [sic] at 7 ok a.m. and stopped<br \/>\nfor dinner just beyond that town. Obtained<br \/>\nrough map of the Country at the<br \/>\nTelegraph office. The 121st N.Y.V. Col.<br \/>\nFranchot was today assigned to Gen.<br \/>\nSlocum and attached to the 2nd.
