\nraising of a million armed men was
\nnot wild but wise and understood
\nthe demands of the crisis.

\nGordansville. If this be true what a gross
\nimposition has been practiced on the people.
\nWrote<\/span> copy of General\u2019s letter for
\nthe N.Y. Tribune today, subject the duty
\nof having these old regiments filled up
\nwith recruits. A good sensible letter.
\nHis other letters have been excellent.
\nReceived<\/span> a good letter from Rev.
\nWm. H. Shailer D.D. this evening – Shall answer
\nit tomorrow.

\nMy<\/span> prospects for a promotion
\nare not so good as they might be.
\nSo it seems – Very Well – Like Micawbers [?]

\nmyself laboring under a combination
