\nAlexandria, Va.
\nHere<\/span> we are once
\nmore back again within a stones
\nthrow of our first encampment
\nin Virginia. I took dinner in
\nthe room below on the tenth
\nday of July last. Now to
\nexplain. Night before last orders
\ncame for us to march back
\nto Alexandria, surprising and
\npleasing us at the same time.
\nThree regiments went by rail.
\nThe Maine 5th. however had to
\nmarch the entire distance forty
\nmiles which was accomplished in
\na day and a half. The General
\nand staff accompanied them on
\nhorse back. We made Fairfax Court
\nHouse our head quarters for last
\nevening. This morning General
\nNewton and staff rode with us
\nto Alexandria.<\/p>\n
