I have felt very dissatisfied<br \/>\nwith this kind of living and long<br \/>\nfor the old privileges and the old<br \/>\nfriends.<br \/>\nAm I a true Christian? If so<br \/>\nwould I not be more in the spirit<br \/>\nof Christ? What are my feelings?<br \/>\nMy desires? I long for a direct<br \/>\nservice in the cause of my master.<br \/>\nI wish that I might be a chaplain,<br \/>\nand then I could give my whole<br \/>\nattention to the subject \u201cof winning<br \/>\nsouls to Christ\u201d.10OK P.M.<br \/>\nHave been out on Grand<br \/>\nRounds with Major Scammon and<br \/>\njust returned. As we rode along the<\/p>\n<p>Page 9:<\/p>\n<p>paths leading through open fields and<br \/>\nquiet woods, saying nothing, hearing<br \/>\nnothing but the occasional sighing of<br \/>\nthe wind I experienced strange emotions.<br \/>\nWhere are the friends in Maine? What<br \/>\nare they doing?<br \/>\nI received a letter from<br \/>\nDr. Shailer this evening which was<br \/>\nwritten in the same old tone of<br \/>\naffection and kindness. God<br \/>\nbless him and all my dear friends!<br \/>\nThe letter contained another from<br \/>\nCol. Dunnell, Vera Cruz.
