{"id":969,"date":"2012-11-25T19:37:12","date_gmt":"2012-11-25T23:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/csc-lowcoburn\/?page_id=969"},"modified":"2020-12-29T01:59:36","modified_gmt":"2020-12-29T06:59:36","slug":"laura-cummings-neal","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/csc-home\/laura-cummings-neal\/","title":{"rendered":"Laura Cummings Neal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Colby 1893, A.B.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Cummings Neal was born in Saco, Maine.&nbsp; She enrolled in Colby in 1890.&nbsp; At Colby she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, was on the College YMCA, served on reunion committees, and played tennis.&nbsp; Following Colby she was an assistant high school teacher in Skowhegan, Maine until 1896.&nbsp; She then taught at Brigham Academy in Bakersfield, Vermont until 1900. &nbsp;She spent one more year teaching high school in West Boylston, Massachusetts.&nbsp; She served on the Women\u2019s Council for National Defense from 1917-1918.&nbsp; She was elected to the school committee in Boylston, Massachusetts from 1921-1930.&nbsp; She also served as a Library Trustee at Beoman Memorial Library in Boylston from 1931-1953.&nbsp; She was also a member of the Worchester Women\u2019s Club, Boylston Women\u2019s Choir, and First Baptist Church.<\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-969\" data-postid=\"969\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-969 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colby 1893, A.B.
