Colby, 1888; Ph.D., Yale, 1896.<\/p>\n<p>Alice Sawtelle was born in San Francisco, California. After Colby Sawtelle was a teacher from 1888-93 at Coburn Classical Institute. She pursued a PhD. at Yale University and wrote her graduate thesis on Edmund Spenser. She married Herbert Randall. With Louise Helen Coburn, she was a representative for the alumnae at the meeting of the Board of Trustees in 1900 (<a href=\"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/csc-home\/letters-1900\/\">see her letter to Louise Coburn, May 28, 1900<\/a>).
