\nas Sec\u2019y of the N.Y. Alumni asss\u2019n], and also
\nletter from Prof. Hall came this morning. I will
\ntherefore go to N.Y. tomorrow to do what I can
\nat the meeting. Since writing the above a letter
\nhas come from Frank Padelford. He has written
\nme before about petition and I first advised
\nhim to go slow + consult trustees and next
\nI wrote him that Mr. Giddings heartily approved
\nsuch a counter-petition. Now he writes that
\nDrummond<\/del> He told me not to quote D. At any rate,
\nFrank is uncertain. Many of the alumni have
\nsigned Bassett\u2019s petition and it seems questionable
\nwhether we will strengthen our position with a
\ncounter-petition which would have a shorter
\nlist. But, I can talk this over with<\/p>\n
\nthat you wrote + quite like to be sent to
\nthe front!<\/p>\n
\nview \u2013 that coeducation is practical + sensible \u2013
\nno question to be discussed, since experience has
\nproved this.<\/p>\n
