Dear Miss Coburn,
\nYour letter arrived while
\nI was out of town for a few days. Hence a little
\ndelay has been caused but not so great, I hope, as to
\ninconvenience your plans. I send you by this (Tuesday)
\nevening\u2019s mail the other copies of the protest. I
\nwill pay the express (25 cts. probably) and in payment will reserve
\nfor myself 8 copies. I want a few on hand for we
\nare constantly having calls for them and I suppose we
\nnever can get any more except at considerable expense.
\nYou may tell anyone that Mrs. Carver wrote the protest
\nherself without assistance or revision by another hand.
\nMy husband listened to it after it was finished and
\nat his suggestion I omitted a few passages. You re-
\nmember that I omitted also a few expressions and made a few changes at your kind<\/p>\n

\nnot seen the Advertiser\u2019s Editorial but shall try to ob-
\ntain it. There was also in the Lewiston Journal for Friday,
\nI am told, a short abstract of it.<\/p>\n
\nwhether they should join the boys in their class election.
\nI shall advise them to accept the invitation by all means.
\nIt will be for the good of all parties concerned and also
\nfor the good of the college, I am sure. They were foolish
\nenough to ask Pres. Small\u2019s advice. He says \u201che won\u2019t advise
\nthem, as it is none of the faculty\u2019s business but he thinks
\nit will be pleasanter<\/span> for them to have their own or-
\nganization.\u201d I have no space for comment<\/span>. Make your
\nown. Please keep me informed of your whereabouts this
\nwinter as I may wish to write to you. You will know
\nwhere to find me. We move next week and I shall soon

\nThe outlook for co-education seems to be
\ngrowing a little brighter now, don\u2019t you think
\nso? Everybody is watching the college with great
\ninterest. Judge Whitehouse says this new plan
\nis \u201ca piece of folly.\u201d If you know of anything of in-
