She graduated from Colby in 1890, and remained, working toward her master\u2019s degree, for three years before eventually transferring and completing her education at Radcliffe College in 1902. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority started by Mary Low Carver. Adelaide Ellery worked seasonally as a principal of a high school in Barre, Massachusetts from 1890-1894, and traveled Europe from 1894-1895. She became the principal of Acadia Seminary in Wolfville, Nova Scotia from 1895-1899, and then vice-principal at Vermont Academy in Saxton\u2019s River from 1903-1909.
