Transcriptions of letters from Louise Coburn to Elizabeth Foster, 5/13 and 5/25, 1906

The Iowa
Washington D.C.

Dear Mrs. Foster,

I have been sick in
bed for three days with grip,
so please excuse a brief reply.

We had expected to be home
before this, and I am disappointed
not to be. Now it is not
possible to tell when we
will come. By all means,
I would have a meeting of
the Board, and arrange for
the Basket Meeting. I should

think it a very good plan to
write Mrs. Stevens to come.

I shall certainly not be home in
time for the Board Meeting, but
hope to for the Basket Meeting,
and shall surely go, if possible.
I cannot tell now when we
shall be in Maine.

Yours very truly,
Louise H. Coburn

My dear Mrs. Foster,
It is a disappointment
to me that I shall not be
able to be at the Basket
Meeting. Mother is still in
bed, although more comfortable,
and it will [seemingly?] be
a week or two before we can
return to Maine. I had
[?] a bad attack of Grip
myself, and have not got

my strength back yet, but
mother’s was more serious,
and she gains slowly.

Grace will not go home
until after we do.

I think your program
as outlined very attractive
and I am sure you will
have an interesting meeting.
I am so glad you are
able to be in the [work?]
again. Please give
my very cordial greeting
to the ladies, and

express to them my
regret at being unable
to be present.

Mother wishes to send
her love, [and?] you

yours most affectionately
Louise H. Coburn
