She was a philanthropist, writer, public speaker and world traveler. Rosamond was a granddaughter of Celia Thaxter. She published a biography of her grandmother in 1962 titled Sandpiper: The Life and Letters of Celia Thaxter. It contains an extensive selection of photographs and poems.<\/p>\n<p>Biographical details about Rosamond&#8217;s life and work are provided by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosamondthaxterfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rosamond Thaxter Foundation<\/a>, which she established in 1964.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300\"><em>ROSAMOND THAXTER AND SPECIAL COLLECTIONS<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Rosamond Thaxter&#8217;s first gift of Celia Thaxter materials was received in May 1961. She gave additional materials in May 1968. A last gift came from her estate in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>The Colby Library Quarterly article titled <a href=\"http:\/\/digitalcommons.colby.edu\/cq\/vol6\/iss12\/5\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Celia Thaxter&#8217;s Library&#8221;<\/a> (December 1964) lists volumes owned by Rosamond that eventually came to Special Collections.
