Save all you can. Give all you can.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n\u2013 John Wesley, \u201cOn Money\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There is nothing fair about COVID-19.\u00a0 People are not equally vulnerable to it or protected from it.\u00a0 People don\u2019t all have the same supportive community, the same emotional and spiritual resources.\u00a0 People don\u2019t have equal access to health care. People do not all have the same resources to endure an economic downturn, unemployment or closed schools.<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 exposes injustices that are embedded in our social, economic and political systems.\u00a0 For some, this pandemic means an immediate survival crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing what we can when people are suffering comes as second nature to people who follow Jesus.\u00a0 If you have the ability to give money at this time of crisis, I am writing to encourage you to do so.\u00a0 If you are able, please consider one or all the following actions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Support your Local Church<\/strong>.\u00a0 Your church needs your support for as long as this crisis lasts and beyond.\u00a0 A check in the mail is a blessing.<\/li>\n<li>After you have given to your local church, if you can do more, please give a \u201cthank offering\u201d to the <strong>FUND FOR FAMILIES.\u00a0<\/strong>Text the code\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cGNWFFF\u201d to 44-321 or visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/gnwfff\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/gnwfff<\/a>\u00a0to give. Local Churches will partner with community organizations to \u201cpractice being human\u201d with people who are especially vulnerable to the impacts of COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li>If someone else may need your <strong>Stimulus check<\/strong> more than you do, consider \u201cpassing it along\u201d to the FUND FOR FAMILIES (above).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Begin now to think now about whether you can <strong>share your salary<\/strong> if local churches become unable to support their clergy or lay staff salaries.<\/p>\n<p>And, finally, if you can\u2019t make financial contributions, offer what you can. Life-saving social distance.\u00a0A prayer.\u00a0A phone call.\u00a0A kind word.
