An editor and anthologist, he has written in a wide range of genres outside of poetry, including short fiction, memoir, criticism, sports, drama and children\u2019s writing. His collections of poetry include, among others, <em>Kicking the Leaves<\/em>, <em>The One Day<\/em>, <em>Without<\/em>, and two volumes of selected poems. Among his many books of prose are such memorable titles as <em>String Too Short To Be Saved<\/em>, and <em>Their Ancient Glittering Eyes<\/em>. Hall has received several awards for his work, including the Frost Medal, The Ruth Lily Prize, the Caldecott Medal, and the National Book Critics Circle Award.
