He soon established an independent practice in West Newton, MA. He received an honorary degree from his alma mater, Colby College, a masters of arts for his exceptional work as a missionary and in Manila. He also became the Charles\u2019 River District\u2019s General Practitioner of the Year in 1958 for his work abroad, serving as a committee member of the United Fund of Boston, as a deacon of the Second Church of West Newton, as the secretary of the Newton Medical Fund, and as a member of the executive committee of Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He co-authored \u201cThe Red Chair Waits\u201d (1949) and \u201cWan Fu, Ten Thousand Happiness\u201d (1957) with Alice Huggins. He was a patron of his fraternity, Delta Kappa Epsilon, contributing to the furnishing of its residences, and keeping track of the status of its local activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1469\" height=\"1181\" src=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/colby-and-china-ea333\/files\/2026\/04\/Robinson-1959-edited.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2580\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/colby-and-china-ea333\/files\/2026\/04\/Robinson-1959-edited.png 1469w, https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/colby-and-china-ea333\/files\/2026\/04\/Robinson-1959-edited-300x241.png 300w, https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/colby-and-china-ea333\/files\/2026\/04\/Robinson-1959-edited-1024x823.png 1024w, https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/colby-and-china-ea333\/files\/2026\/04\/Robinson-1959-edited-768x617.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1469px) 100vw, 1469px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Robinson receiving his award from the Charles&#8217; River District <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later in life, Robinson\u2019s health started to decline. In 1968 he was offered a position on the Colby Alumni Council, however he declined, stating that he was a \u201csemi-invalid\u201d and that he would experience difficulty climbing the gentle slope of Miller Lawn. He died unexpectedly on a Friday evening, November 14th, 1969 at the age of 72.
