{"id":244,"date":"2015-12-16T13:04:11","date_gmt":"2015-12-16T18:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/?page_id=244"},"modified":"2016-01-27T22:18:18","modified_gmt":"2016-01-28T03:18:18","slug":"georgannas-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/georgannas-page\/","title":{"rendered":"Georganna&#8217;s Page"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!\u00a0My name is Georganna Benedetto and I am a freshman here at Colby. \u00a0This month of January I had the amazing <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-348 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/files\/2015\/12\/unnamed-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"unnamed-2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/files\/2015\/12\/unnamed-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/files\/2015\/12\/unnamed-2.jpg 855w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>opportunity to take the Chemistry Outreach course and to spend the majority of my time developing science activities, interacting with children in the greater Waterville community, and\u00a0sharing my love for science with kids. \u00a0I have worked with kids in a variety of areas ranging from coaching young swimmers to volunteering at summer camps to babysitting. \u00a0Additionally, science is one of my passions and I enjoy\u00a0spending my time in the lab working and revising experiments. \u00a0Chem Outreach has offere<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-408 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/files\/2015\/12\/unnamed1-230x300.jpg\" alt=\"unnamed\" width=\"194\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/files\/2015\/12\/unnamed1-230x300.jpg 230w, https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/files\/2015\/12\/unnamed1.jpg 491w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/>d me the unique experience to merge science and helping with children.<\/p>\n<p>The first experiment that I developed is the <a href=\"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/ch151\/files\/2015\/12\/Battery-Lab.docx\">Battery Lab<\/a> in which students watch a demonstration of a lemon battery being made, construct a penny battery individually, and discuss how batteries help in their daily life.\u00a0 The activity\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">helps students learn about how batteries function in relation to ions, electrolytes, voltage, and current.
