We would like to offer our appreciation for local residents, conservation associations, staff, and faculty who generously offered time and assistance.
The Maine Lakes Resource Center (MLRC) and the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance (BRCA) have been long-time collaborators with Colby. We presented our findings in the beautiful Maine Lakes Resource Center building in December. In particular, we would like to thank Kathi Wall, Executive Director of the MLRC, Peter Kallin, former Executive Director of the MLRC, and Maggie Shannon, Executive Director of the Maine Congress of Lake Associations.
Scott Davis of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife was able to provide valuable information about the fisheries in Great Pond and the Belgrade Lake System.
Finally, we would like to thank Colby faculty and staff that offered time and expertise: Dr. Denise Bruesewitz, Dr. Whitney King, Dr. Manuel Gimond, Dr. Philip Nyhus, Abby Pearson, and Scott Guay. Funding for this project was provided by the Colby College Environmental Studies Program.
The Belgrade Lakes region benefits from many active conservation groups that work with residents, governmental agencies, and research groups like CEAT. You can find out more about these conservation groups by visiting their websites:
