The Mules took on Bowdoin yesterday and walked away victorious, 26-14! This is the first time in four years that Colby has beat Bowdoin.

The Mules started the game off with a few mistakes and fell behind 8-0 early; however, the mules stepped up and fought back, allowing lock, Kiernan Somers ’17, to punch it in from five yards out. Bowdoin converted another penalty to go ahead 11-5 heading into the half.

The Mules came storming out of the gate in the second half and strong defense by the Mules allowed for outside center, Ryunosuke Matsuura ’17, to block a Bowdoin kick and touch it down in the try zone. Fly-half, Jack Sears ’17, converted the kick to give the Mules the lead 12-11. Once Colby took the lead, they never looked back. Dominating the play in the second half, the Mules scored twice more. Prop, Ben Wardwell ’17, scored his first Collegiate try on a punch from five yards out and wing, Patrick Deniger ’17, weaved through the Bowdoin defense to score. Sears converted both. Bowdoin converted one more penalty kick to round out the scoring, but it wasn’t enough as the Mules walked away with a dominate 26-14 victory.
