Colby College hosted the 4th Annual Global Engagement in the Liberal Arts Conference on September 14-16, 2018 in Waterville, Maine.
Following in the footsteps of previous conferences (2015 Connecticut College, 2016 Hamilton College, 2017 Carleton College), the event brought together faculty and staff from a wide range of liberal arts colleges and programs to share best practices and efforts focused on effective global engagement under the organizing theme of Access, Integration, and Action.
The Colby College conference welcomed more than 90 colleagues from across the U.S. and from abroad, and sessions were organized around the following topics: Supporting and Sustaining Global Learning and Engagement; Building Bridges: Developing Institutional Roadmaps for Faculty and Student Success; Language Study Beyond the Major; De-Centering Language and Culture: Language Centers and Beyond; Integrating Global Learning Across and Within the Curriculum; Undergraduate Research – Challenges and Possibilities; Global Networks and Consortia as Models for Advancing Global Engagement.
