Writing across Campuses
The Farnham Writers’ Center welcomes Kennebec Valley Community College students to use our resources. We are available for peer tutoring at both the KVCC and Colby campuses as well as for online and Skype tutoring. We ask that KVCC students bring or send their written work accompanied by assignments and other materials provided by their instructors. The more information a tutor has, the more helpful that tutor can be.
KVCC On-Campus Tutoring
During the Fall and Spring semesters, Colby writing tutors provide half-hour sessions at the Marden Center. We encourage KVCC students to schedule appointments in advance, but we also welcome drop-ins.
Colby On-Campus Tutoring
KVCC students may also come to Colby’s campus for an hour-long tutoring session. To do so, students must register on our appointments page and sign up for an available time. Sessions take place in the Writers’ Center located on the ground floor of Miller Library in room 9C. To arrange regular meetings with a particular tutor, please contact Assistant Director Adan Hussain.
As a service provided exclusively for KVCC, online tutoring allows a student to email a piece of writing to the Writers’ Center along with a prompt and any additional information. We will return it within 24 hours with comments and suggestions from a Colby writing tutor. Because online tutoring entails little or no dialogue between tutors and tutees, we strongly advise students to give as much detail as possible in their emails. Click here for more details on online tutoring.
To foster face time and dialogue between tutors and tutees, we are initiating a Skype tutoring option. Stay tuned to this page for upcoming information.
