1. What and where is the Writers’ Center?

The Writers’ Center is a space for peers to share their writing with trained writing tutors for feedback. You may find the Writers’ Center in the Street on the Robert’s side. Just look for our Spontaneous Writing Board!

2. Can anyone go to the Writers’ Center?

Of course! We expect everyone to come by the Writers’ Center with lab reports, theses, or even blog posts. We are not a place solely for remedial help, so anyone should feel free to come by.

3. When should you come to the Writers’ Center?

If you are at any point of the writing process or are writing at all, you should come to the Writers’ Center. This means you can come in when you are brainstorming, outlining, or on your first, second or final draft.

4. What does a typical session look like?

You come in and are greeted by our wonderful staff, who asks you to sign in. Then, you talk to your tutor about what you need to work on and on what you want feedback. If you have a piece of writing, you or the tutor will most likely read it out loud. After an hour spent on a wonderful discussion of the paper, you will fill out an exit evaluation to give us some feedback.
