"Missing" Org Chart Function in PowerPoint 2007

The Organization Chart Add-in for Microsoft Office Programs

Thi was previously called Microsoft Organization Chart 2.0, is an add-in for 2007 Microsoft Office system programs that you can install and then add to your 2007 Office release documents. Organization Chart is not installed automatically when you install the 2007 Office release, and you have to install it manually before you can use it. Organization Chart has been available since the release of Microsoft PowerPoint 95. There have been no significant changes to the program since its initial release, and there are no plans to add any significant functionality to it in the future. You can create an organization chart in the 2007 Office release without installing the Organization Chart Add-in by using Microsoft Office Visio 2007 or by creating a SmartArt graphic. For more information, see Create a Visio organization chart or Create an organization chart. To install the Organization Chart Add-in instead, do the following.

Install Organization Chart

First, exit all 2007 Microsoft Office system programs.

In Microsoft Windows

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Click Control Panel
    Do one of the following:
    On Windows Vista Machines
         Click Programs
         Click Programs and Features
         Right-click the 2007 Microsoft Office system entry
         Click Change
    Note: If you are in Classic view
         Click Programs and Features
         Right-click the 2007 Microsoft Office system entry
         Click Change
    On Windows XP Machines
         Click Add or Remove Programs
         Click Change or Remove Programs
         Click 2007 Microsoft Office system
         Click Change
    Note: In Classic view
         Double-click Add or Remove Programs
         Click 2007 Microsoft Office system
         Click Change
  3. In the 2007 Microsoft Office system Setup dialog box
         Click Add or Remove Features
         Click Continue
         Click the plus sign (+) to expand the Microsoft Office folder
         Click the plus sign (+) to expand the Microsoft Office PowerPoint folder
         Click the “Not Available” icon (orange “x”) button next to     
         Organization Chart Add-in for Microsoft Office programs
         Click the Run from My Computer “Run from my Computer” icon (tiny computer)
         Click Continue to install Organization Chart
  4. After Organization Chart is installed, you can will be able to open it.
