Welcome to COFGA: The Colby Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association!  COFGA is a club where students can manage Colby’s organic garden—2 Feet 2 Bedrock—and green house, inform Colby’s community about food production and agricultural sustainability, and meet new people!  COFGA is a great way to work with produce, learn about sustainable farming practices, and provide Colby’s dining halls with fresh produce. COFGA is always open to new members – feel free to join at any point throughout the year!

Mission Statement:

We aim to provide quality, organic produce to Colby’s dining halls, instill in our members the knowledge necessary to grow their own food, and inform the Colby community about issues surrounding food production.

What We Grow

We grow a variety of different vegetables such as: Cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, squash, zucchini, gourds, pumpkins, onions, leeks, carrots, beets, herbs, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, salinova, corn, peppers, raspberries, and blueberries! Look on the “documents” tab for more detailed garden plans!

What We Do

We grow the plants in the garden from seed to product, preparing the beds, and tending to the plants along the way. Outside of working in the garden, we also glean from the farmers market, help in the food bank, lead elementary school students in the garden, and hold community gatherings at the garden.

Thanks to: Colby Dining Services, Environmental Studies Department, Biology Department, Colby Administration and Campus Life, and all the students and community helpers involved!
