Anthropology explores the amazing diversity of human social and cultural experience. Colby’s Anthropology faculty are award-winning scholars whose work spans the globe, from Colombia to South Africa, from Thailand to Maine. Colby’s Anthropology program extends well beyond the classroom with student opportunities for study abroad, internships, and independent field research. Join us as we investigate powerful new ways of understanding ourselves and the world in which we live
Our program focuses on Cultural Anthropology, a field of inquiry that is as broad as the human species yet grounded in the investigation of specific communities, identities, and practices; it addresses both global patterns and local distinctions. From the introductory to advanced levels, anthropological learning promotes critical research, analysis, and communication skills that are essential for success in today’s diverse, global workplace. As a field of study that bridges the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities, anthropology is deeply interdisciplinary and has a central place in any liberal arts education.
